WHILE a blanket of snow lay outside the atmosphere was hot, hot, hot in the Goole High School canteen, thanks to the kitchen team cooking up a Caribbean theme day.

Spicy pasta and potato wedges, as well as the signature dish of rice and peas, were among the tempting treats on offer, followed by an upside down pineapple pudding.

And the food from far away places got the thumbs up from diners, with one saying: “It’s great – I love spicy food and it’s just what I fancy on a day like today. “

Themed lunches are a regular feature, with others recently including Wild West favourites.
