Hoping grass roots effort pays off...

RESIDENTS in Goole are delving out their hanging baskets and watering their flowers to prepare for the latest Goole In Bloom.

The competition, which takes place every year, rewards communities, businesses, and residents for the presentation of their gardens.

One of the residents hoping to take part is Adrian Hill from St Andrews Court, who walked away with the Judges Discretionary Award in 2008.

He said: "I have always been helping out in the square and when I moved into my house I decided to keep tending to the garden.

"I've included pansies, rose trees and conifers but I like moving and adding little bits to it over the months."

As well as decorating his own garden, Adrian will be entering Garden Competition on July 24, shortly after judges visit the town on July 21.

They will spend the day driving around the area on an open top bus to judge the local gardens.
