SELBY mayor George Carter helped spread the love on Valentine’s Day when he opened a new furniture store last week.

The unveiling of St Leonard’s Hospice Furniture Shop co-incided with the most romantic day of the year, with the mayor invited along as special guest.

The store, situated on Ousegate Mill, is the third store of its kind, after similar branches were opened in other parts of North Yorkshire.

As well as selling furniture, the new shop will specialise in books and will offer coffee making facilities for visitors.

The new store will be open Monday to Saturday (10am-3pm) but will be closed on Wednesdays.
