A TWO-YEAR wait for a lollipop person near a school in Snaith goes on after constant advertising of the post has failed to attract a suitable candidate.
Exasperated East Riding of Yorkshire Council crossing patrol officer, Margaret Milburn, said the area to be covered by the crossing patrol officer at Pontefract Road near Snaith Primary School, was one of the few places that had no-one willing to come forward.
ERYC councillors for the area, Coun Caroline Fox and Coun John Barrett, have launched a campaign to attract a suitable candidate to the post.
Coun Fox said: “This is really frustrating and surprising. I feel lollipop people are very under valued but they provide a much-appreciated service for the community. Surely there is someone willing to come forward and fill this important role.”
