ASPIRING actors from Selby showed their caring side when they raised vital funds for Selby Times-supported Selby Hands of Hope.

Chairwoman of the charity Wendy Singh collected a cheque for £150 on Sunday following a fund-raising concert held three weeks ago in Selby Abbey by the Selby Abbey Drama Group.

Speaking from the Hawdon Institute in Church Avenue, where the cheque was presented, she praised the drama group’s efforts and said contributions such as this were the lifeblood of the charity.

She added: “This contribution is fantastic. It was great that Selby Abbey Drama Group leader Karen Banks just rang me out of the blue and said they had put on a show and money raised from it would be coming to SHOH.”

A race night to raise funds for SHOH is being held at Selby Working Mens Club in Micklegate on November 16. Tickets are available from the Selby Times office or call 07548 223066; or visit the www.selbyhandsofhope.org.uk website.
