A CHAMPION fund-raiser was greeted with open arms when he visited the Salvation Army in Selby.
Capt Paula Hayley said salvationist Andy Peddle, 70, from High Wycombe, is walking across the country after starting off in the Shetlands six months ago, with a plan to visit every Salvation Army headquarters in the UK to raise money for organisations opposing human trafficking.
She said he would spend the next 12 months on the road raising funds along the way and she praised his commitment and courage.
She added: “I think this is an amazing feat. It shows Andy’s committment as a Christian and is part of the Salvation Army’s pledge to help victims of human trafficking. Just over a year ago we got a contract with the government to help those suffering at the hands of human traffickers and we pledged to pick them up whenever we are called and take them to a safe house.”
She further added: “At each stop Andy sings the song You’ll Never Walk Alone!”
