New officer in the town
WELCOME: New Inspector at Selby Police Lyndsey Stamp.
Police in Selby have welcomed a new female inspector and she is keen to kill crime in the town.
Inspector Lindsey Stamp said she is hoping to build on her links with groups in the towm to achieve her aim.
She admitted she had asked to come to Selby as she had previously worked in the town as a PC in 2004 and she had also served her first three years as a policwoman in the district.
She added: “Selby was my preference when I was asked where I wanted to be posted. I chose this as the area I wanted to cover. I remember when I first came to Selby and I remember thoroughly enjoying my time here.”
She added: “During my time here in Selby district I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and was more than happy to return here. My knowledge of the area is pretty good from when I worked here before. I’m really looking forward to working with the safer neighbourhood police team at the Selby station.”
Chief Insp Mark Iveson, of the Selby safer neighbourhood team, said he felt Insp Stamp would make a good contribution to the efforts of his team.
He added: “Insp Stamp has a good awareness of the way things are in the district in terms of its structure and its make-up.
“In the inspector’s role as Selby town safer neighbourhood inspector, I am sure she will make a valuable contribution to the team’s efforts in ensuring Selby district remains one of the safest in the force.”
Prior to coming back to Selby in her new role, Insp Stamp worked at North Yorkshire Police headquarters in Newby Wiske, where she had an important strategic role as a staff officer to the chief constable of North Yorkshire.
After switching roles she said she was pleased to have returned to an operational role by working with the safer neighbourhood team.
“I think the Safer Neighbourhood officers form a fantastic team and I’m absolutely delighted to be here,” she said.
She said they were doing fantastic work in the district and said she was looking forward to working with them, and also with the public and partners to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour across the Selby district, and keep Selby safe.
She said: “I feel we need to keep up with the good work.”
