GET fit and healthy this new year with a visit to Selby’s exercise facilities.

As well as the town’s Profiles gym in the former Walker’s bingo hall on Portholme Crescent, budding fitness fanatics can also use the new outdoor gym trail that has been installed in Selby Park.

The outdoor gym is a circuit around the crazy golf facility featuring equipment similar to that found in a conventional gym. This includes a two person air strider, a combined fitness bike and stepper and a two person leg strengthener as well as a sit up board, combined fitness system, and a waist and chest system.

The new Profiles gym was opened just a few months after the devastating fire that destroyed the Abbey Leisure Centre. Selby District Council and its leisure services provider, WLCT, worked quickly to provide these alternative fitness facilities as a medium term solution. Councillors voted last year to re-build the Abbey Leisure Centre to deliver brand new facilities at the site.
