HELPFUL volunteers and supporters of the newly rebranded Age UK Selby District were thanked for their hard work with a party on Friday night.

Manager of the renamed charity shop – formerly Age Concern in Millgate – Jackie Mook, said the outlet would remain independent and continue to help those in the district, but would now have a stronger voice both locally and nationally under the Age UK banner.

She added: “On Friday we held a party at Selby Town Hall to thank our army of volunteers. It was a great night with music provided by local band The Breeze and a band of young musicians from Selby High School, Premonition.

“I would also like to thank Brook Street Deli for doing the catering and the town council for allowing us to use the town hall as a venue. We managed to raise a total of about £1,000 on the night for charity funds. The volunteers work so hard and it was nice to thank them in this way.”

See Selby Times website for more pictures of the event.
