Police investigate Selby district thefts

POLICE investigating a number of thefts in Selby District are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

One of the incidents officers are seeking information about is the theft of a Bennington Buggy horse drawn carriage from a secure field, off Park Lane Close, in Womersley.

Thieves cut the chain which was securing the carriage and possibly took it away on a vehicle sometime between 5pm on Monday 4 February and 6am on Tuesday 5 February 2013.

Police are also making enquiries into the theft of around 60 litres of diesel from a Massey Ferguson tractor in Cawood.

The incident occurred overnight between Monday 4 February and Tuesday 5 February 2013 at a farm on Broad Lane.

Information is also being sought after a BMW 3 Series was stolen during a two-in-one burglary in Carlton.

Thieves broke into a property on Broadacres in the early hours of Wednesday 6 February 2013 and the keys to the vehicle were taken from the kitchen. Three laptops and a mobile phone were also taken during the incident.

Officers are also asking the public for information after a catalytic convertor was taken from a Mercedes Sprinter van on Cathcart Close in Whitley, sometime between 6pm on Tuesday 5 February and 7am on Wednesday 6 February 2013.

Anyone with information which could help officers with their enquiries into any of these incidents is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Selby police.
