Pupils congratulated
on top achievements

THERE was a day of festive celebrations at St Mary’s Catholic Primary in Selby in the run up to Christmas.

The Baffam Lane school started the day with the end of term awards assembly where children are congratulated on their achievements for the term.

Categories include an award for religious education, reading, writing, maths and citizenship.

This year there was extra excitement when Mrs Chilvers from Brayton Parish Council came to present the prizes for the recent Christmas lights competition run by the parish council. Pupils were asked to design a Christmas light. The winning design will be made into a light for next year’s festive display. Edi-May Jardine from the school’s reception class was the winner. She will get to switch her special light on next year.

The fun and frolics continued in the afternoon when the school held their annual grandparents’ party. Year 6 pupils served tea and coffee while delighted grandparents were treated to musical entertainment from all the classes in the school.
