WORK has been completed on a log cabin recovery room for wildlife in Selby district.

The purpose-built structure at Selby Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre is for orphaned, sick or injured animals.

Annette Pyrah, founder of the rehab centre, said the cabin stands in a natural and peaceful environment and gives the patients time to recover from their injuries prior to being returned to the wild.

However the recovery room still needs to be fitted out with some kitchen units and Annette would like to hear from Selby Times readers who could donate some old units or worktops.

She said: “We desperately need some kitchen units, worktops and floor covering such as vinyl. Our website, www.selbywildlife.co.uk, gives details of things which we need to continue our essential work with local wildlife.”

Annette also revealed future plans at the centre include converting an existing room into a critical care unit, which is where wildlife will go before the recovery room.
