A CHRISTMAS Hamper campaign has been gaining steady momentum during the past few weeks at Sherburn High School.
Classes at the school have been busy bringing in a variety of food items from home and donating spare change to put together a hamper.
The hampers, which have been wrapped in Christmas paper, will be distributed to local residents who have been nominated by students at the school.
Sainsbury’s Wincanton based at Sherburn Industrial Estate, have also kindly donated a massive amount of food to make this year’s hampers even better than ever.
Additional items such as flowers and fruit will be bought using the spare change donated from each group; any remaining money will be donated to local residential centres.
Organiser John Bagshaw, Head of Design Technology at the school, is delighted with the school’s response.
He said: “As always the students and staff have made a huge effort to make Christmas a little brighter for the people in our community.”
