Separated families supported

A NATIONAL support group to help families facing separation of parents has launched a local support network in Selby.

Group member Steve Roberts contacted the Selby Times to introduce the free service – Families Need Fathers – as it is introduced into the North Yorkshire area.

He said: “I’m sure you have heard of Families Need Fathers (FNF - http://www.fnf.org.uk) the national charity which is currently one of the organisations involved in advising the government on separated family issues. We are representing FNF in the Yorkshire region, but more specifically the North Yorkshire region.

“We have set up a local support group working in partnership with Selby North Children’s Centre where we host a meeting for fathers, mothers, step parents and grandparents on the second Tuesday of each month (7pm-9pm) which helps them through a family breakdown offering support and advice.”

He added: “We work with both genders and our meetings are open to all including professionals within family law. We have a good working relationship with Relate who have also partnered with and actively support us.

“The support group is offered free to anyone who wants to call in and speak to us.”
