Sky dive leap for teen

A TEENAGER from Whitgift who does not believe in living within his comfort zone is to take on a 15,000 feet solo sky diving challenge next week in aid of young people suffering from cancer.

A TEENAGER from Whitgift who does not believe in living within his comfort zone is to take on a 15,000 feet solo sky diving challenge next week in aid of young people suffering from cancer.

And the feat is just the latest in a long line of daredevil stunts that James Parmar, who turns 17 next month, has completed for charity during the past two years.

The Boothferry and Goole High School 6th Former became an action man after being inspired by blind motivational speaker, Miles Hilton-Baber, at a business convention in 2008.

James contacted Hilton-Baber afterwards and, with the help of a project manager, the pair carried out their first venture together. Not for James, however, a gentle introduction into the world of daredevil charity fundraising as they chose a 245-mile cycle ride across Death Valley, between California and Las Vega, in temperatures exceeding 135 degrees.

That was a year ago, in aid of the yorkshire Air Ambulance, since when James has navigated a cycling team of four through the 1,350 mile Race Around Ireland, finishing in 6th place and raising funds for the Geoff Homes Foundation.

He has completed a tandem skydive in aid of the MS Society and the Children's Air Ambulance and completed the Leeds half marathon.

"I have Miles Hilton-Barber as a personal motivator. He has given me skills to keep me aiming high and stepping out of the comfort circle," said James, who is also Charity Organiser for Goole High School's 6th Form and hopes to delivering a couple of motivational talks himself..

Anyone who would like to sponsor James when he does his sky dive in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust, from Hibaldstow airfield, on Saturday July 24, can contact him via his website at www.jamesadventurers.co.uk
