SISTERS Fay and Rachel Burton from Ulleskelf wanted to make Christmas special for homeless people at the Salvation Army.
The girls, who attend Tadcaster Grammar School, baked more than 900 buns and sold them to fellow students and members of staff.
They were helped by Joy Carberry, Jasmine Noble and Sophie Kenyon and raised £363.21, which they presented to the Salvation Army in Selby before Christmas.
“We wanted to give money to the Salvation Army because they never ask for anything and do a fantastic job to keep our homeless people off the streets,” said Year 11 student Fay.
“There will still be people on the streets this Christmas, but I hope our donation will make a difference and give many of them a bed, hot food and love at this time of year,” she said.
