Stolen phone used for overseas calls
AN ANGRY nurse is refusing to foot the bill for overseas calls after her mobile phone was stolen while she was on duty and messages relayed to Pakistan.
Registered General Nurse (RGN) Megan Nicholls (51) of Main Street in Pollington, was on duty at Dewsbury District Hospital, when she noticed her phone had been taken.
She said despite informing her service provider T-mobile at the earliest opportunity of her loss she was landed with a bill for an additional 70 above her usual monthly fee.
She fumed: "Why should I have to pay this bill? I was on the wards and didn't even know the phone had been taken.
"Within two hours T-Mobile was informed of my loss, but by that time 15 calls had been made to Pakistan. It's a disgrace.
"I was asked to pay an additional 70 and I refused. It's not that I can't pay, it's the principle – why should I have to pay for something that isn't my fault?
"Why should I be liable for this when I couldn't do anything about it. The bill isn't huge but I had my telephone stolen while on duty on a busy hospital ward. The person who took the telephone should be ashamed. This is an ongoing argument and I refuse to pay."
T-mobile was contacted and said they would investigate the matter, but at the time of going to press they had not given an answer to the Courier.
