Stunning Selby images
LRB Trophies owner Steve Butler presents Karen Mitchell with her trophy for winning the Save Our Selby photo competition.
STUNNING images of Selby have shown the town’s more attractive side in a competition by the Save Our Selby Facebook Group.
The group, set up 16 months ago as a focus on all that is good about Selby, launched its latest photographic competition in November. After initial lukewarm interest a flood of entries boosted numbers to 15.
After much deliberation the eventual winner was Karen Mitchell with her eye-catching photograph of Gowthorpe in the early hours looking towards Selby Abbey.
Founder of Save Our Selby group, Sean Lumley, said: “This competition has highlighted just how many attractive areas there are in Selby. We used to have pictures on the Facebook page of grotty scenes in the town, but this was criticised by our users and we decided to try and attract positive images.”
The winning photo was chosen on January 1 by LRB Trophies owner Steve Butler and awarded to Karen Mitchell, 43, of Peppermint Way, Selby, who said: “There are nice areas of Selby and I aimed to reflect this. It was great to win first prize.”
