Thurnscoe death: Man charged with murder
A 36-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with the murder of a man who was found injured in a Thurnscoe street.
Gary McKeown, 36, of Church Street, Thurnscoe, was charged with the murder of Philip Alan Smith after an incident on Saturday, January 28.
He appeared at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody.
McKeown is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday, February 10.
Mr Smith, also 36 and from Thurnscoe, was found injured in Church Street at about 4.30pm following a disturbance near the junction with Houghton Road.
He was taken to Barnsley District General Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
