Transformer fire in Selby

NEWS: News.

NEWS: News.

FIREFIGHTERS were scrambled to a fire on Doncaster Road on Sunday after reports of smoke coming from an outdoor electricity cover.

The incident happened at 12.04am and a fire crew was mobilised.

A crew found fire in an underground transformer due to flood water from the road leaking into the transformer causing it to short. Crews pumped the water away and the electricity board isolated the electrics which then enabled the fire to extinguish itself. The incident was left with the electricity board, the fire caused damage to the transformer only.

Crews used a main pump to pump water away, hooligan tool, thermal imaging camera and traffic management equipment.
