William will turn tomboys into women

ONE of the area's eligible bachelors will now be teaching others the art of elegance in a new ITV show.

William Sweeting (31) from Howden, is appearing on ITV's Ladette To Lady, as one of the couple's bachelors.

The reality television show aims to turn tomboys into a elegant women, with a different contestant voted off each week.

Appearing each week in the show, William is partnered with a girl and accompanies them to a different high profile event.

He then feeds his views on the girl's mannerisms and conversational skills back to the judges.

William, who has never been on television before, explained how he got involved in the show.

He said: "Well I knew the producers of the show in passing and then suddenly they decided I'd be good for the show.

"At first I thought about it a lot because I'd never seen the show."

William, who works in PR, has organised a series of high profile events, including a fundraiser at Howden Minster, however, he admits he's never done anything like this.

He said: "My friends keep texting me saying 'ah you're on the telly!' but I don't know if I'd do anything like this again. It would depend on what it is. I had a great time and I met some lovely people."

Ladette To Lady is shown on Tuesdays at 9pm on ITV1.
