THOUSANDS of local residents enjoyed Goole's Christmas lights switch-on last week.

Town Mayor Jean Kitchen turned on the lights and music was provided by a variety of local stars, including Frank Ella MBE and The Neumes, fronted by the Harding sisters, Emily, Charlotte and Eleanor.
Santa Claus was also in attendance on a horse and cart, whilst Goole Town Council staff got into the spirit of things by dressing up in different costumes including Tweety Bird and Sylvester the Cat.
Town clerk Brian Robertson estimated that there were the usual 2-3,000 people in attendance.
He said: "It went very well and we were lucky with the weather which started coming down heavily as we finished.
"As usual we had carols and songs which Parkside School choir joined in with this year.
"It seemed to go very well and went without a hitch."
