THINK you can hit the high notes as the next Alexandra Burke or Leona Lewis?
Reckon if you came face-to-face with notorious X-Factor and Britain's Got Talent judge Simon Cowell he'd be the one quaking in his boots as you blew him away with a blistering performance?

Perhaps you can cut sharper moves on the dancefloor than t
he celebrities on Strictly Come Dancing, or maybe you can crack gags funnier than Peter Kay and Jimmy Carr put together.

If you think you could shine on stage, here's your chance to prove it.

Your favourite weekly read has launched its fantastic Search For A Star contest to find the area's biggest and brightest talents.

The Goole Courier is on the lookout for the area's best amateur performers – singers, dancers, comedians, magicians – whatever your talent might be, we want to hear from you.

If your friends are impressed with your karaoke performances, are envious of your disco moves or you have them rolling in the aisles with your wit, here's your chance to share it with the world.

Goole Courier editor Janet Harrison said: "In these days of credit crunch doom and gloom, we want our readers to put a smile back on people's faces.

"We know there are a lot of very talented people in the Goole area, and we look forward to seeing what they can do to impress us.

"All you have to do is send us a video of you performing your act and we'll upload it onto our website www.goolecourier.co.uk

"It can be anything at all – maybe you're a champion spoons player, a dab hand card sharp or have an amazing sporting skill, or maybe you simply just have an unusual party piece to impress your friends. Whatever it might be, we want to hear from you – but bear in mind our family audience so please keep any audition clips clean."

To take part, click here to e-mail your clips to our editorial@gooletoday.co.uk address. They must be in wmv format so they can be uploaded onto our website.

A panel of judges will assess the entries later in the year – and we'll be organising a talent show where all the best entries will be able to perform in front of a live audience. So what are you waiting for? Send us your clips now and who knows, the star of the show could be you!
