Drax Cup gets underway
SCHOOLS from across the region played their first games in the Drax Cup 2008 last week for a chance to play in the finals at Headingley Carnegie Stadium in June.
England Ladies' Test player, Katherine Brunt met the teams and offered skills training at the festival-style mini-tournament held at Goole Town Cricket Club.
A total of 270 schools from across Yorkshire are taking part in The Drax Cup 2008, making it the country's biggest cricket competition for the under-9s age group.
It is sponsored by Drax Power Limited and organised by The Yorkshire County Cricket Club in conjunction with The Yorkshire Cricket Board and The Yorkshire Schools' Cricket Association.The results were as follows:
