Gill's strike seals passage into final
Thorne Colliery 1
AFC Charter 3
CHARTER made an easy passage into the Goole and Thorne Cup Final after beating Colliery last Thursday.
The Goole-based team took the lead courtesy of a Rob Constable penalty kick.
Jackson made it two with a neat header and caused problems to the Colliery back line throughout the game but could not get past the 'keeper.
The second half saw Colliery go out on the attack which caught Charter a bit flat footed and gained a penalty when the striker was brought down in the box.
Colliery scored from the resulting spot kick but from that point on never again tested Hall due to brilliant defending from Costello, Hoare, Fallon and Barker who was later replaced by Johnson.
Charter regained the two-goal cushion with a well-taken goal by Gill who lobbed the on coming 'keeper from 18-yards out. Ramskill, Constable, Gibbon and Wheldrake were a constant menace to Colliery, not giving players any time on the ball.
Man of the match for the Charter was shared between Ramskill and Constable.
