PROLIFIC Goole Town Girls goal scorer Naomi Chadwick is representing England Under 17s at a major tournament.
The 16-year-old from Carlton is at the UEFA European Women's U17s Championship second qualifying rounds where the squad face sides from Belgium (today) and the Netherlands on Sunday.
Last week, the left winger who scored 173 goals in 89 games for Goole in the West Riding league, was packing her bags for the tournament.
England faced host team the Czech Republic for the opening game in Prague.
Naomi's mother Julie Chadwick said: "We got a phone call on Monday (March 17) and Naomi was absolutely delighted to be selected, it has been her dream since she was about six.
"She played for a boys team (Pollington Panthers) when she was younger and she gave them a run for their money.
"Naomi played for Goole for four seasons but she is now at the Hull School of Excellence."
Naomi trains at the academy in Hull twice a week and plays for the school of excellence side at the weekend. But this means that she has had to give up playing for her beloved Goole.
"It was a hard decision for her," said Mrs Chadwick.
Though it was a hard choice to make it was clear that Naomi was capable of stepping up her game and she went on to train at Bisham Abbey where the full England internationals prepare for tournaments.
While she was there, her obvious talent was spotted by England FA scouts and when one of the U17s team pulled out of the squad for the qualifying rounds, Naomi stepped in.
Kevin Shipp, manager of Goole Town Girls, watched Naomi blossom into the skilful player she is today and she was his choice for captain last season.
"She is a very, very good player and she has a great attitude," said Shipp.
"Naomi is a great captain who is full of determination and has a lot of skill."
Shipp said last week that Naomi had a great chance of being in the first 11 for at least one of the games.
If England finish in the top two at the qualifying contest they will be going to the Fifa Women's World Cup in New Zealand later this year.
