Goole firsts secure five wicket win

GOOLE 1st XI secured a five wicket win against Stamford Bridge at Carr Lane on Saturday.

Run makers for the visitors, who batted first, were D Hogan (10), P Hill (32), E Chaplin (19), P Milner (33) and T Graham (10).

Bowling power came from Richard Mann who took 3 for 32 off 12 overs; Neil Foster, 2 for 32 off 9; Ashley Hulme 3 for 34 off 13; and Dave 1 for 37 off 11 overs

In reply Goole opened up with Anthony Gibbins and Ashley Hulme who put 34 on for the first wicket before Hulme was out lbw for 8.

Gibbins was then joined by Kev Murphy who took the score to 86 before Gibbon was out with a top score of 47.

At 91, Murphy went out for 23 before Neil Foster and Lee Heywood took matters on to 133 before Heywood was out for 20.

Mark Holmes then joined Foster and moved the score to 155 before being out for 11.

Foster was then joined by Eddie Oliver who hit a four to win the game after 45 overs.

Wicket takers for the visitors were M Fairweather, 1 for 20 off 6; P Akomey, 2 for 35 off 12; D Chaplin, 1 for 53 off 17;

D Hogan, 1 for 16 off 6.

This Saturday Goole 1st XI travel away to take on Acomb.
