THE match got underway with Goole slow to react to this highly organised and skilful team, who dominated the game with some good strong physical play that should have put them in front with some powerful strikes at goal.
Goole struggled to close p
layers down and allowed this team too much space to get shots off at goal.
However, Goole's goalkeeper Stacey Haytack put up what can only be described as a superb display of goal-keeping to keep this excellent side at bay.
Slowly, Goole started to keep hold of the ball more and string together some good passing approach play.
However, it was patchy and sometimes lacking in composure which allowed the away side too much of the ball. The defensive partnership of Mollie Down and Bethan Taylor were tested to the full in this encounter and, barring a few mistakes, handled the pressure quite well with some fine passing and clearance kicks from both girls.
The breakthrough came against the run of play with some good passing moves from the midfield of Katie Challenger and Freya Smart setting up Naomi Oldridge to fire Goole ahead.
But the away side got back into the game immediately, hitting the woodwork on several occasions with Goole again giving the ball away too cheaply.
On came Nancy I'Anson and Ashleigh Oldridge to try to mix the play up, both girls trying really hard to pass and move the ball around under a lot of pressure from the away side and managing to set up Naomi Oldridge to score again.
Megan Pollard was also played-in and did have chances to score, but unluckily could not find the back of the net.
Goole breathed a sigh of relief as the half-time whistle blew.
A strong half-time pep talk was given by the coach in an effort to remedy the mistakes and lack of composure shown by the team.
The second half got underway with a slight improvement from the home side with good passing in places and composure on the ball, with better closing down from all the players stopping the run of play.
However, the away side were still getting more than their fair share of the ball and could have scored on several occasions.
Goole were given chances to add to the score and a fine individual effort from Naomi Oldridge was awarded with her scoring her hat-trick.
Even with the score at 3-0 to the home side, they still looked at times unconvincing and slow to react to goal kicks and throws by the Grass Roots For All outfit. Then a chance was taken by Goole with a fantastic cross from Oldridge and a superb touch from Megan Pollard to make it 4-0.
The away side must have been disappointed as the scoreline did not truly reflect on the game.
Man of the match was jointly awarded to Freya Smart and Mollie Down for their efforts.
The match leaves Goole with work to be done in training, but a pleasing result none the same.
