Howden have poor start

LAST year's Snaith Evening League Division One runners up Askern played host to the 2006 Division Two Champions Howden last week.
Askern batted first and with a great fielding display, Howden bowled Askern out for 85.

In reply Howden made a poor start losing two wickets in the first over, before being finally bowled out for 74 despite a gutsy effort with the bat from S Chath
am (36) and D Kew (13 no).

Luddington, batting first against Airmyn, destroyed the bowling attack and posted a first innings score of 196-6, with John Bramhill scoring 60 and Richard Wroot an impressive 83 not out.

In reply Airmyn were bowled out for 36 with Mark Coulman taking 3 for 1.

In another high scoring match, Drax First team notched up 143-1 with Powell and Moore scoring 57 and 47 respectively. Goole were then bowled out by Drax for 60.

Division Two saw Hensall take on newcomers Carlton. Hensall 100 for 5, Will Atkinson (32), Richard Whaley (26) with Mark Spetch taking 3-0-7-1.

Carlton Towers took the points, however, with 101 for 2, Mark Chambers (66 no) and Tom Shingler 5-1-13-1.

The other newcomers Burn, lost to Tate & Lyle in a close match scoring 97 all out to Tate & Lyles 101-8.

Eggborough consolidated their place at the top of Division Three, with a win over Drax Seconds.

Eggborough scored 90-8 with young Drax bowlers Matt Torn and D Baker taking 3-0-9-4 and 3-0-9-4, respectively.

Results:

Division One - Goole Academy 187-5, beat Fishlake 1st 104-7; Askern 85 all out, beat Howden 74 all out; Drax 1st 143-1, beat Goole Firemen 60 all out; Luddington 196-6 beat Airmyn 36 all out.

Division Two - Tate & Lyle 101-8, beat Burn 97 all out; Carlton Towers 101-2, beat Hensall 100-5;

Sykehouse 89-9, beat Hirst Courtney 86-6.

Division Three - Eggborough 90-8, beat Drax 2nd 62-5; Fishlake 2nd beat Pollington.

Today's Fixtures:

Division One - Drax 1st v Askern; Goole Town v Airmyn; Howden CC v Goole Firemen; Luddington v Fishlake 1st.

Division Two - Burn v Hirst Courtney; Sykehouse v Carlton Towers; Tate & Lyle v Hensall.

Division Three - Fishlake 2nd v Eggborough; Pollington v No Match; Thorne Colliery v Drax 2nd.
