CARLTON Seconds entertained Thorpe Arch and BS at the Fishpond field hoping to improve on their previous week's disappointing result.
But it was a poor start for the home side in the York Senior League Division Five B with an excellent opening par
tnership for TABS with the opposing captain J Turner making 54 and J Orrell making a patient 20 with an opening stand of 83.
But Carlton's young bowling attack showed lots of character and fought back well with D Squires (1-41), R Tate (1-21) and Sam Morris (1-14) restricting TABS to 188-4 with S James making 53no for the visitors.
A special mention goes to L Ellin whose wicket keeping was of an excellent standard and claimed two amazing catches and S Landers who bowled with great accuracy to keep the score to an achievable chasing target.
Carlton started their response well with a solid opening partnership by N Kline (13) and S Watson.
But apart from that the home side showed a lack of dedication at the crease which allowed the opposing captain to cap off a fine performance with 5-13 with the home captain R Knapp scoring 24.
TABS ended up winning by 117 runs but if Carlton continue to bowl and field with the determination they showed here, the future is bright.
Carlton Seconds face Rowntrees at home on Saturday.
