SEVEN young people won through the club championship to represent Old Goole Youth Club at Miscues in Barnsley for the South Yorkshire round of the annual Clubs For Young People 2008 Pool Tournament.
After playing on tournament tables which were very different from their own and meeting other young people from the Yorkshire area, four of the youngsters won through to represent their club and South Yorkshire in the Northern Area Finals.

Competi
ng in age categories under 12s, 14s, 16s and 19s, those taking part were Nathan Keisler, Jamie Hughes, Tony Nichols, Billie Marshall, Brandon Stannard, Kraig Edwards and Josh Lamming.

The Northern Area Finals were held at Barnsley two weeks later. Competitors from all over the north, including Liverpool, Durham, Lancashire, Blackpool and Consett, attended. The best three in each age group would go through to the UK final in June.

All the young people played well, the standard of play being very high with some very close matches.

Billie Marshall finished third in the girls Under 12s, Jamie Hughes finished second in his group games, as did Josh Lamming, putting them both through to the semi-finals.

Jamie had a great semi-final, losing two games to three against a lad from Carlisle, all the games went to the black ball.

Jamie then had to play Josh for third place and the honour of playing in the UK finals. Kraig Edwards had some good games in the Under 19s and gained valuable experience in a well contested age group.
