Builders allow side to cement high placing

Albion Vaults FC........................... 11

LNER Builders................................ 2

Chris Harkin led the way with a five-goal bonanza as the Albion cemented their position near the top of the York Sunday Morning League Division 3 after crushing a poor Builders team.

They were in control from the off and it was a surprise that it took them so long to open their account courtesy of Rowbottom, who followed up a well-stopped shot by slotting home neatly.

Harkin then got his tally going after being set up by Coxon and a second quickly followed before the Builders got one back with a free-kick.

And though when Harkin was brought down for a penalty and Coxon missed, Durnin soon tucked one away after combining well with Reasbeck for a half-time lead of 4-1.

And when quick goals followed from man of the match Matty Howden and Durnin again, the rest of the match was effectively a non-contest.

Hullah then entered the fray and added to the score as he enjoyed the room afforded him when working with Danny Hewitt and Smith, who flew down the left with the speed of Giggs before crossing for one of Harkin’s goals.

The hardly-troubled defence of Chambers, Tame and Tanton allowed the Builders a little more cheer when a cross was expertly despatched into the net. And substitute Taylor completed the rout after some fleet-footed work from Hullah. Many thanks are due to sponsors ABscaff, Lodge Environmental Solutions and ETS. Albion visit Bubwith White Swan on Sunday.
