DONCASTER DONS: Death of Dons legend John Sheridan

Former Doncaster Rugby League Club coach John Sheridan has died at his Castleford home, aged 78.

Sheridan put together one of the Dons’ best teams when the club was one of the game’s also-rans. The club won 30 of the 44 games they played under him.

Pontefract-born Sheridan was a legend at Castleford where he played 301 games in 10 years. The sixc-footer was a centre, loose forward/lock.

Steve Hossack recalls Sheridan’s first training session at which just eight players reported for training at Tattersfield.
