Doncaster Dons urge fans to flock to Keepmoat for ‘semi’

DONS head coach Tony Miller wants the Doncaster fans of the past and future to come and support his league winning side as they take on Barrow in the play-offs this Sunday.

Miller believes that his team’s successes this year warrants them better support and is urging a big turnout to roar them on to victory at the Keepmoat (3pm kick off) in the semi-final of the Co-operative Championship One play-offs.

“The boys have been tremendous value for money all season and we’ve played some really good rugby both home and away,” said Miller.

“Our success is obviously great news for the club, but it’s also great news for the town of Doncaster and it puts us firmly back on the rugby league map for the right reasons.

“I believe the players and the club deserve a bigger crowd at the Keepmoat, which is probably the best stadium outside of Super League, and it would be fantastic to register our biggest crowd of the season at the weekend against Barrow.

“I’m optimistic our success will prove to be the catalyst for a positive reaction which will hopefully lead to a big increase in our fanbase starting this Sunday in the play-offs.”

Miller’s side have certainly offered good value for money this season. The accolades they’ve clocked up this year include the most wins, the most points and they also have the best points difference by some margin.

Lee Waterman has also broken the try scoring record whilst the team have also averaged 40 points a game and will be presented with their first League winner’s shield after the game on Sunday.

“We’ve done something that’s never been achieved in the club’s 61 year history and it’s something we should all celebrate and be very proud of,” continued Miller.

“The club has had its fair share of ups and downs throughout its existence and this success should be embraced by everyone who has been involved with the Dons in whatever shape or form.”

The Dons have recruited another old face for the game with prop Matt Carbutt re-joining the club after spending the last year in Australia.
