SHREWSBURY Town boss Graham Turner is convinced his side would be well clear of danger already had he had the current squad all season.

The Shrews have won three of their last four games to sit eight points clear of the League One relegation zone.

Turner believes he has found the missing piece of the jigsaw in Bolton Wanderers striker Tom Eaves, who joined on a month’s loan last week.

The veteran boss has made several additions to the squad since the start of 2013 and is more than contented with his current lot.

“I’m really pleased with the depth we have,” Turner said.

“I’m pleased with the quality and experience we have in this squad.

“I think if we’d have had this squad at the start of the season we would have been in a far healthier position league-wise.”

Sheffield United striker Chris Porter moved to New Meadow on loan earlier this month while former Blades midfielder David McAllister signed permanently during the January transfer window.

Barnsley’s Rob Edwards, Watford’s Stephen McGinn and Welling’s Yado Mambo have all also arrived on loan in recent weeks.

Turner has not ruled out further loan signings before the end of the season as he bids to secure survival.

A 2-1 victory over Stevenage last weekend edged the Shrews onto 40 points in 17th place.

Turner said: “Going into the final weeks of the season we have to make sure we survive and that we’re a League One side come August.

“It’s important we have strengthened the side and that we continue to look for players to strengthen it.

“It’s up to us to do our thing and make sure we get enough points to stay up.

“It could take 52 points this season to steer clear of the bottom four.”

Turner is likely to be without promising young winger Jon Taylor who aggravated a groin injury after coming off the bench for the Shrews at the weekend.

Taylor impressed during his cameo after spending the previous fortnight on the sidelines but could be set for another spell out.

Marvin Morgan stated his case for a starting spot tonight with the winner after coming off the bench.
