Football round-up

Goole Town Girls FC U14s 15 Victoria Dock 1

TOWN were back in league action and simply blew away Victoria Dock who just couldn't cope with Goole's forward play, scoring six without reply ina first half dominated by the midfield who played in Aimee Johnson (2), Paige Henrick (2), Emily Lappin (1) and Megan Hind (1).

Victoria Dock resorted to kick and chase football and on occasions got through the Goole midfield, only to be stopped bygood goal-keeping and some resolute defending.

The second half was more of the same with the Goole midfield having time to pick out passes to the strikers, who could virtually score at will.

VictoriaDock did get on the score sheetwithKuhr-Jones finishing well from a neat cross midway through the second half, but Goole added another nine to their tally with a hat-trick from Billie Rea Clark and another six from Aimee Johnson.

Credit isto be givenfor strong performances by Maddy Stannard and Leah Dennis and best wishes from all at the club to Emily Calvert who sustained an injury midway through the second half.

Snaith JFC U-10s 1 Goole Town Tigers 2

ON a bitterly cold morning last Saturday, the seven-a-side Selby District Junior game heated up fast as Snaith came out on fire and looked the stronger side.

Thanks to Jack Pepper's excellent work in goal, two sure chances for Snaith were closed down as he made the goal seem small by going well off his line several times. The only real danger came from Liam Broughton whose long shot was saved. Snaith broke well and eventually passed the defence and went one up in the first half. It was quite a physical match and defender George Cooper had to be substituted by Corey Brown after suffering a knee injury.

The second half seemed a daunting task as immediately Snaith went on the attack again, but Brown was on form in defence and halted many forward moves. The match was end-to-end and Liam Harvey hit the cross bar with a super shot.

It was looking as though the Goole boys were unable to break through Snaith's tremendous defence and get one passed the talented 'keeper.

The match was finally pulled level when a scramble in the Snaith penalty area left Harvey Blyth with a shot where he smashed it passed the 'keeper.

The game was still very close and Pepper made some more superb saves.

At the halfway line, Jay Sharman took a throw and found Liam Harvey who played a high ball to Jamie Hunt to chest down and shoot from just outside the centre circle into the top left corner of Snaith's goal to put Tigers in the lead. Two more near misses came from Broughton striking the cross bar also.

The manager's man of the match was Jamie Hunt.
