A desperate search for their first win of the season finally ended in triumph at Haxby as Hemingbrough hit the ground running in this York Minster Engineering League Division 1 encounter.

It wasn’t long before Luke Zacharenko found Haythorne to dispatch the ball home from close range.

And they doubled their lead moments later when a weaving Jamie Wheeler run laid the ball on a plate for Crown man of the match Tom Collins.

After the hosts came in for some hair-dryer treatment, Boro’s backline of Jackson, Brooks, Land and Collard had to be on their toes, but Wheeler and Zacharenko subsequently put the game to bed.

Andrew Davies and Ollie Taylor-Bower both bagged hat-tricks as a magnificent Boro ran riot against a poor side in this East Riding Qualifying Cup round 1 tie.

Craig Bentley got the other goal, but Daz Tate was a frequent supplier, setting up the opener with an inch-perfect pass, while players’ choice Taylor-Bower also paved the way for Bentley.

Mike Young was the Crown man of the match. Neil Tomlinson drew 23, 37 & 46 for the club lottery but there were no winners, with the jackpot now £250.
