High-flying Galaxy win eases Barlby pressure
SNAITH Galaxy remain at the top of their under-11s division after beating Phoenix FC.
Galaxy, playing in yellow, dominated throughout the Selby and District Junior Football League’s Red match and with just four minutes gone, Lewis Ledger finished an Ethan Mattison corner.
Elliott Hinchcliffe added a second after good work from Jamie Greaves before another Mattison corner resulted in an own goal.
Alex O’Neill then nestled a powerful shot into the bottom corner just before half time.
The second half saw further Galaxy goals as Mattison capitalised on an error and Max Milner scored his first league goal for the club.
Ledger made it 7-0 before Mattison tapped in his second.
Cameron Crowder then released Hinchcliffe who made no mistake and the final goal was created by Ledger who beat a trio of challenges from his own half before finding Mattison.
Barlby Raiders continued to put the pressure on high-flying Snaith after coming back to beat Kippax Athletic Kougas 3-1 at home.
The away side took advantage striking first through an angled shot in off the post.
Barlby levelled when a lofted Atkins corner evaded the keeper and Bracken dispatched.
Raiders took control after the interval and an under-hit goal-kick fell to Lynch on the right who drove his effort into the bottom corner.
Ford was then on hand to link up Raiders’ final goal and release Bracken for 3-1.
