Hutton does the trick for Hemingbro’

Ricki Hutton scored a superb hat-trick as Hemingbrough came from behind to win a pulsating York FA Junior Cup first round tie.

It was a terrific never-say-die display that handed player-manager Oli Falkingham his first victory in charge.

But although Hutton was the players’ choice, Neil Darley was the Crown man of the match and was unfortunate to have had his ‘equaliser’ ruled out because the referee had already blown for a handball penalty after an Andrew Davies shot hit the arm of a Riccall defender.

As it happened, Richard Ireland blazed his spot-kick over the bar, but Boro were not to be denied as Hutton headed home in the last minute to take the game to extra time.

Having made all their substitutions, both sides were now running on empty, but this didn’t prevent the hosts from regaining the lead with a thunderous 30-yard strike.

With five minutes remaining, however, Hutton restored parity by turning to smash home a low left-foot drive after being fed by Daz Tate.

And with penalties looming, Ireland’s long punt found Hutton who latched onto the hopeful ball and fired past the keeper.

Also deserving of mention were resilient backliners Dack, Irving and Matt Zacharenko.

Aviva............................................ 1

After dominating large parts of the game, Hemingbrough will look back and wonder how they didn’t take any points from this York Minster Engineering League Division 1 encounter.

But with early chances spurned by Collins, Brown and Luke Zacharenko, they were made to pay when a long-range effort from the Aviva midfielder found its way into the Boro goal.

Chris Land was the Crown man of the match and Boro travel to Haxby this weekend with the Reserves again in cup action, this time against Heslerton.

The club lottery jackpot now stands at £200 after there were no winners when Ian Shuttleworth drew the numbers 16, 19 & 48.
