Indoor thriller ends in a tie

AN entertaining and competitive All Saints Indoor Cricket League encounter between Hatfield Town A and Barnby Dun ended in a tie - both sides making 86-5.

Town had first knock and despite the fall of early wickets, and a mid-order batting collapse, opener Paul Davies (29) kept the scoreboard ticking. A late flourish from Adil Nasim (13) and Andrew Cutts (16) gave Town confidence in defending the modest score.

Dun made steady progress in reply with openers Steve Barnes (12) and Stuart McPhee (15) giving them a solid start. But wickets then fell at regular intervals and it was left to skipper Jay Horne (32 not out) to guide his side over the winning line.

Eight runs were needed off the last over but the pressure proved too much as the innings closed with the scores level.

Warmsworth are having a better season than last and they registered their third win of the campaign against an enthusiastic Maltby side. Liam Woodward (49 not out) top-scored for Maltby but he lacked any real support from his team-mates as their innings closed on 89-5.

Youngsters Adam Saynor (11)trevor Cook and Connor Doherty (19) enjoyed a good opening partnership and with talisman Chris Hadley hitting 27 the Common Lane club secured victory.
