Joy for Boro as miserable run ends
Hemingbrough................................. 5
Skelton............................................. 0
Hemingbrough ended a run of five straight defeats with an impressive win in round 2 of the York Sunday Morning Senior Challenge Trophy against Division 1 side Skelton, writes Luke Zacharenko.
Boro controlled the game from start to finish as they gave the visitors no chance of victory.
They opened their account when Tom Collins latched onto a decisive through ball from Neil Darley and finished well under pressure.
After this, Boro seemed to struggle for long periods to create any meaningful shots on goal despite dominating much of possession.
However, a second eventually came through the aid of an own goal by the Skelton defender. The chances then came along like the 415 bus for Boro, Collins adding his second and third to round up a wonderful hat-trick while Luke Zacharenko completed the tally to give Boro a well-earned and deserved victory.
Man of the match went to the clinical Tom Collins who ended up with eight goals in a Boro shirt for the weekend. The team now travel to Hambleton looking for their first league win.
The lottery jackpot now stands at £500 with no winners when Alan Collins drew the numbers 23, 37 & 38. See page 57.
