Kelly keeps hitting target for Belles
Brayton Belles.................................. 5
Wakefield.......................................... 1
Player of the match Kelly Thornton scored all but the last of her team’s five goals as Belles continued their excellent start to the Premier Division.
She finished low into the corner, then lobbed the keeper, volleyed the next and afterwards rounded the keeper.
And she then set up Vicky Harrison to finish low from close range with a corner that was flicked on by Jenna Rogers.
Midfielders Dunn, Roache, Cogan and Summers had been busy creating chances, but the goals dried up after the break when the wind clearly did not help.
The U11s, meanwhile, carried on their good work from last season with a comfortable win over Bishopthorpe White Rose.
Lauren Selkirk was on target twice, with Charlotte Ward and Courtney Wright also scoring, while Corrie Brown and Lily Bingham defended well and Becky Clark was player of the match.
And in an earlier pre-season friendly, Belles U11s scored first against the U12s with an excellent looping effort that left the goalkeeper no chance, but Anna Linton equalised five minutes later from a goalmouth scramble.
Also on song were Amelia Tuck, Rhian Till, Millie James, Milly Ash, Emmi Blackmore, Charley Midson, Lucy Bingham and sub Erin Simpson.
Thanks to Mikey Siddle for officiating.
