League gets new charity partner
LEISURE Leagues - Europe's largest provider of five and six-a-side football - have announced a new charity partner for 2010.
The company, which launched community leagues at Howden School and Technology College last year, have teamed up with the National Blind Children's Charity and will be making regular donations to the cause.
Leisure Leagues media manager Adam Matthews said the company takes its responsibilities very seriously and added: "We donate all our profits to charity, and we are extremely happy to be extending that to such a worthy cause as the Blind Children's Society - we are thrilled to be able to help them."
There are an estimated 25,000 children registered blind or partially sighted in the UK and the donations will help the NBCS carry out their vital work as their Chief Executive Carolyn Fullard explained: "We would like to thank Leisure Leagues for their generous support," she said.
"With the contributions we receive from supporters such as Leisure Leagues we are able to fulfill many more of our children's wishes. This will assist them to achieve their educational and recreational goals."
Adam said that Leisure Leagues would be keen to see the good their money was doing: "One of the best things about the partnership is that they have promised to send us updates on how our donations have helped, which we very much look forward to seeing."
The league takes place on Sunday and, in addition to helping charities such as the NBCS, Cancer Research and Dogs Trust, teams will be competing for trophies and also the chance for national glory as Leisure Leagues are the main sponsors of the UK 6-a-side football championships held each year.
Winners and runners-up in the league are guaranteed free entry into the competition.
