Local girl wins boxing title
Barlby High School pupil Lucy Howram narrowly missed out on the British boxing title for her 54kg weight when she competed in the national finals as Yorkshire champion.
Having lost out on a close points decision, the Hemingbrough 15-year-old (above) is now ranked No 2 in the country and says she is looking forward to her next fight for her club Hull Saints.
Dad Mark adds: “Hopefully much bigger things are coming her way in the future with women’s boxing making its first appearance at this year’s Olympics, placing it in the spotlight around the world.”
