NETBALL: Lemsip victory is just the remedy for Goole
GOOLE Hurricanes netball team stormed to victory on their travels, beating Hull-based Reckitts Lemsip 31-13.
Hurricanes, who were missing their usual goalkeeper and goal attack through illness and injury, were sharing the spoils with their counterparts with goals being matched by both sides.
The Hurricanes soon settled into their stride and were leading at the end of the first quarter 6-9.
Goole’s strong defence led to Lemsip struggling to score with the Hurricanes’ shooters keeping up the high goal rate ending the second quarter 8-19 to the visitors.
Lemsip made changes in a bid to improve their defence while the Hurricanes kept the ball flowing nicely from end-to-end via the centre court play, leading 10-26 at the end of the third quarter.
A determined Lemsip kept going but the visitor’s pressure was too strong with a final score of 13-31 to the Hurricanes.
That victory means the Hurricanes’ winning streak continues as they dominate Division Six.
Hurricanes line-up: GS – Pat Buttle, GA – Victoria Cowling, WA – Teresa Woodall, C – Julie Marwood, WD – Linzi Acaster, GD – Sylvia Bayliss, GK – Kate Causier.
Goole Netball Club have five teams in the Humberside winter league with the Tornados playing in Division One, the Hawks in Division Two, the Jets in Division Four, the Hurricanes in Division Six and the Panthers in Division Seven.
