New season, new name for Goods Office team

GOOLE Goods Office Football Club will revert back to its former name for the forthcoming season.

AFC Goods Office has also merged with the other Saturday Goods Office team, which won Division Three in the Scunthorpe League last season.

Secretary Mark Lockwood explained: “Manager Anthony Andrews, after his first season in senior management, said him and his team needed more of a challenge.

“So they have come into the County League as a reserve team under the well established Goole side and will play their football in League Three or Four.

“A good youthful side hopefully will see some new faces in the first team for the coming season.”

The AGM will be held soon to discuss positions at the club and the way forward for the coming season.

One certainty is that Dave Munday has stepped down from his management position after 12 years in charge and so his understudy Darren Ramskill will take over the reins. Dave will, however, stay on as chairman.

Lockwood added that after the disastrous end to the season things are starting to look up for the club.

With two sides now to run the club will be looking for local sponsorship, anyone that can help finance

the long-running amateur side should contact Mark Lockwood on 07857 688221.

l AFC Goods Office FC is holding its annual Stars In Your Eyes on Saturday July 18. All players are reminded that they need some new acts this year instead of the usual crew. Tickets are 3 available from the Goods Office or from Spock, Mundo or Ramma.
