New Woodlands football teams ready for action
AFC WOODLANDS start training on Wednesday July 23 at Western Road in Goole.
All players from both the first team and reserves of the former AFC Goods Office team are to attend the session at 6.30pm.
Also any new players interested in playing for the club can go along and join in.
This season sees the first team still in the County Premier with the Reserves having won the Division Five title last year without losing a game, have jumped a league and will be playing in Division Three.
A club spokesman said: "The club would like to thank Andy at the Goods Office for the past two years work.
"The club would also like to thank The Woodlands who have taken the club on board and hopefully will repay them with bringing success to the pub which it used to have with the football team back in the 80s.
Mark Lockwood the secretary of the football team goes on to state that The Woodlands seems to be the pub at the moment where everyone wants to go and the football team are looking forward to be playing from there.
"The pub is thriving again under a new management team and the club are grateful of their chance to be playing from there," he said.
"Meanwhile the club would like to thank new kit sponsor Pete Finch of Classic Cleaners for buying the new kit."
Both teams see two new managers on board as well.
The first team sees the return of Dave Munday as manager with Rod Graham his assistant.
The reserves meanwhile see Mick Head taking over the reigns from Antony Andrews who has stepped down for work reasons but will still be on the committee. Mick is still undecided of his assistant.
The club would like to thank past first team manager Darren Ramskill who steps down after one season in charge but won the senior cup, and also Antony Andrew the reserves manager, who after two years in charge of the reserves won back-to-back league titles in the Scunny league then County league.
Last but not least, the club would like to thank Rod Graham for bringing in the sponsorship for the club.
The club's annual Stars In Your Eyes is taking part on Saturday August 14 at the Charter Club, Goole.
Tickets can be bought from the players for 3.50. All players are reminded that they must do an act or help out in any way possible.
There are also limited guest slots for anyone else who fancies strutting their stuff on stage.
