Swim stars representing Selby Tiger Sharks once more struck a rich seam of shining metal when they competed in a gala at Leeds, writes Charles Gardner.

The super seven came away with six gold, seven silver and four bronze medals between them with the Buckley sisters in particularly good form.

Lauren, 13, picked up a gold, three silver and a bronze, followed closely by ten-year-old Hannah’s two gold and two bronze while 16-year-old Chloe Parkin collected two golds and a silver.

Ashleigh Horsley, 11, and Bethany Marshall, 13, both had birthdays immediately preceding the meet, so did well to come away with medals when swimming for the first time in an older age group.

Ashleigh won a gold, silver and bronze while Bethany collected a silver.

And Ethan Bowes, 12, the only boy representing the club at the weekend, earned a silver medal in the 100m butterfly while his sister Amelia swam three very good personal best times.

The City of Leeds grand prix event was held at the John Charles Centre.
