Silver lining for Denaby’s Terri Harper, 16

TERRI Harper returns to Doncaster with a silver medal and the experience of representing her country.

Denaby’s Terri, a pupil at De Warenne Academy, only turned 16 whilst she was in Wladyslawowo, Poland, boxing in the European Junior Championships and this was her first time representing England.

In her first bout she overcame Hungarian Daniella Posta with relative ease in a 13-4 win. The semi-final saw her step up again but she got by Pole Grazyna Grygiel.

This was quite a run for the youngster and the three time national champion only lost out by three points to Russian Maria Potorokina in Friday’s final.

She said: “I really wanted the gold but I’m proud of myself for achieving silver. I’ve boxed the best I ever have before over here and it’s just the beginning.”
