The spring term has started with sizzling success for the sports department at Queen Margaret’s School in Escrick thanks to a whole series of wins for netball, hockey and lacrosse teams.

Within just four days they had won two netball matches and a hockey game, the U13A and U12A netball teams having defeated Milthorpe School, the former by a whopping 30-0 and the latter 9-6.

And the U14B hockey side triumphed 2-1 over Ashville College.

Then, in freezing conditions, their lacrosse teams travelled to Bolton School where they won three out of four games – the U12s winning 6-1, the U14s 13-0 and the U15s 10-3 – while the U13s drew their match 5-5.

More success followed for the U12s in netball with the U12B team edging Bootham School 7-6.

Continuing their winning streak, the QM Mavericks B team won both their games of the season – against Bishop Wilton Firebirds and Sherburn C – thus notching up their tenth match since their formation and remaining undefeated after winning every game.

It promises to be a busy term with hockey, netball and lacrosse teams going on tour to Northumberland, Norfolk and Scotland as well as taking part in national and district competitions and playing rival schools closer to home.
